Welcome to 1920s Paris: a vortex of new fashions, forbidden pleasures and bold young artists, all dancing to the red hot rhythms of jazz. It was a place where the young Sergei Prokofiev could take a ballet and transform into a Symphony of iron and steel. Where Maurice Ravel could take Basque folk music, mix it with the Blues, and create a concerto that’s sensuous, stylish, and unmistakably French (Chloe Jiyeng Mun – winner of the 2015 Busoni International Piano Competition – will bring all her flair). And where George Gershwin simply kicked back and penned an irresistibly swinging salute to the City of Light. Maestro Lionel Bringuier is our very own Frenchman in Seoul tonight.
