“For me, composing involves enchanting the listener through sound” says Péter Eötvös. And it’s true: this leading Hungarian composer and conductor creates some of the most magical – and yet emotionally charged – music of our time. But that enchantment is merely a way to explore vast themes, and tonight Eötvös conduct the Asian premiere of his Multiversum: a huge new orchestral work, cosmic in scope, and specially commissioned by the Seoul Philharmonic in partnership with some of the world’s finest orchestras and venues. Eötvös has placed it alongside characterful contemporary classics by his friends George Benjamin and Matthias Pintscher, making this superbly-curated concert a truly major occasion. If you’re interested in the future of music, this is unmissable.
