Next-generation Conductor Training Program 2025 SPO Jaap van Zweden Conducting Fellowship

The 2025 Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra Conducting Fellowship, under the direction of Music Director Jaap van Zweden, is a professional training program created to identify and support the upcoming generation of conductors in South Korea.
Fellows will get the chance to have rehearsals and concert with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, gaining invaluable experience to grow into top-tier conductors.

Chosen applicants will be introduced to the SPO and the Conducting Fellowship Program

25th Feb. (Tue), 2025 SPO Building1st Round
All fellows will be conducting the orchestra under the Music Director's guidance.
The Music Director will select the 2nd Round conductors.

26th Feb. (Wed), 2025 SPO Building2nd Round
The selected fellows will be conducting the orchestra under the Music Director's guidance.
(※ Non-selected fellows will observe the session)The Music Director will select the 3rd Round conductors.

27th Feb. (Thu), 2025 SPO Building3rd Round
The selected fellows will be conducting the orchestra under the Music Director's guidance.
(※ Non-selected fellows will observe the session)Concert conductors will be chosen by the Music Director.

LOTTE Concert HallRehearsal & ConcertFinalists will be conducting at the concert.

Eligibility | - Korean (including overseas Korean) - Master of Music in Conducting or those expected to earn Master of Music in Conducting by February 2026 - Must be able to participate in the entire 2025 Conducting Fellowship program - Must be able to conduct rehearsals in English |
Benefits | - Outstanding fellows will be given the opportunity to conduct a concert on February 28, 2025, based on daily evaluations during the Conducting Fellowship program. - Outstanding fellows in the Conducting Fellowship program may be appointed as Assistant Conductor of the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra. ※ If no suitable candidate is found, this process will not proceed. |

Conducting Video Link | 1) Recent conducting video of an orchestral piece composed before 1950 (concert/rehearsal both acceptable, conducted after January 1, 2023) 2) The video must be unedited and be taken in front of the conductor 3) The video must be under 15 minutes, be a high-quality, and be uploaded on YouTube 4) The recording date, ensemble name, venue, and program must be specified in the application form |
