Hyunjung Ban 반현정
(Tutti)Hyun-Jung Ban, was born in 1988, went to Curtis Institute of Music to study cello with Peter Wiley and David Soyer at the age of 13. Before she studied abroad, she studied with Ms. Kyung-ok Park, who is a professor at Hanyang University. Hyun-Jung started playing cello when she was nine and won several auditions a couple years later. She won chunchoo competition, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra audition, first prize in Seoul symphony orchestra audition, and the first prize in Korean Strad string competition. She performed with Seoul Philharmonic orchestra and Seoul symphony orchestra when she was 12 and in the same year she she won the Kumho prodigy audition and played a recital a year after. When She was studying at Curtis from 2001 to 2009, she went to several summer festivals and performed in many concerts. In 2002-3, she went to Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival as the youngest member. Then in 2004, She went to Yellowbarn and performed with some faculties such as Bonnie Hampton, Roger Tapping. She was also acting as an assitant principal in the New York String Seminar led by Jamie Laredo over the Christmas time in 2004. At Curtis, she formed a string quartet and the quartet performed Schubert C major Quintet with Peter Wiley who was her teacher. She is currently a member in Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra.
