Jungsun Kwak 곽정선
(Principal)After she graduated from the Seoul National University, Department of Music, she received a Master's Degree at the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart in Germany. She won the first prize at the Dong-A Music Competition, the second prize in the woodwind section at the Busan Music Competition, and was also awarded at the Ye-eum Award. She performed with various orchestras including Philharmonic Orchestra for Korea and Japan tour, the JM World Orchestra for a music tour around Europe and Canada as well as for the opening at the Barcelona Olympics. She has also performed with major Korean orchestras including Seoul Chamber Orchestra, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra and Korean Symphony Orchestra. She has revealed a great interest in the modern music and chamber music: she performed the world premier of ‘The octet for woodwind ’ composed by Isang Yun 1995 Stuttgart, and was invited to the Isang Yun Chamber Music Festival, ICM International Chamber Music Festival, Seoul Arts Center’s Chamber Music Festival and the Darmstadt Modern Music Festival. She is the principal bassoonist of the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra as well as member of the Chamber Music Society of Kumho Art Hall and Sejong Woodwind Chamber Ensemble.
