Omar El-Abidin received his bachelor's degree from the Juilliard School and is currently pursuing his master's degree at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste (University of the Arts Zurich, Switzerland). 
He passed the final round of the percussionist audition for the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, and the final round of the audition for principal timpani of the  NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. 
He served as guest principal timpani at the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Dresdner Philharmonie, and the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester, and as a guest percussionist at the Berliner Philharmoniker. He is currently playing as the principal timpani of the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra.
