Miyoune Kim 김미연
(Tutti)Miyoune Kim captivates listeners with her exuberant and heartwarming music.
Ms.Kim has been assessed as a musician that has us feel the warm and the cold emotions at the same time by presenting the softness in the midst of the power of percussion.
In 2007, Ms.Kim won the 3rd Universal Marimba Competition, held in Belgium. In addition to First Prize Ms.Kim won the competition's Public Prize and the Sabam Prize(best performance of the set piece),turning the world's attention to her talents. This success in competition caused the PAS(Percussion Arts Society)to invite Ms.Kim for her debut recital at PASIC(PAS International Convention). Ms.Kim has appeared as a solo artist and recitalist at the Seoul drum featival, IKMMA(Poland), Journee de la Percussion(France),4th Universal Marimba Competition and Festival(Belgium),and has performed in a New Generation Artists concert selected by the Association of music critics. Appearing with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Sungnam Philharmonic, Busan Philharmonic, Sejong Soloists, the Asia Philharmonic Orchestra, and many other orchestra and chamber groups, Ms.Kim has not only been seen live, but also viewed on MBC/SBS TV,heard on KBS/MBC Radio, and printed in various magazines. Ms.Kim has paraded various stages with her percussion instruments both as a chamber/orchestral musician and as a soloist nationally and worldwide.
The Kook Min Daily news, following a successful concert, selected Ms.Kim for excellence amongst her university graduating class, Ms.Kim then received an invitation to play in the New Generation Musicians Concert series. Ms.Kim graduated from the music college of Chungang University before going to study abroad. In Paris, Ms.Kim studied with Frederic Macarez and Eric Sammut at the Conservatoire Superieur de Paris-CNR, from which she graduated with the First Prize. Ms.Kim later studied postgraduate concert soloist Marimba courses at the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp with Ludwig Albert. two months before graduating from the paris conservatoire, Ms.Kim won an audition for the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra with Maestro Myung-Whun Chung. Ms.Kim accepted employment with the SPO as a percussionist member and continues to work with the orchestra presently.
She currently teaches at Chungang University, Yewon school and Seoul Arts high school.
