Anton Bruckner heard the beginning of his Seventh Symphony in a dream, and when you hear its soaring opening melody, you’ll understand why he thought it had come straight from heaven. It’s the gateway to a musical landscape of sunlit mountain peaks and lilting waltz-tunes, vaulting triumph and dark emotions. Meanwhile, we don’t know what inspired Mozart to write his lovely 23rd Piano Concerto, but we do know that he played it himself. He can’t be here tonight but we’ve got the next best thing in Conrad Tao: joining Jaap van Zweden in music that strikes a profound chord, in every sense.
