Audition Announcement
The Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra invites applications for the following positions:
Concertmaster
Associate Principal 2nd Violin
Associate Principal Cello
Principal Double Bass
Application Deadline: November 3, 2026, 4:00 PM (KST)
1st Round Auditions: To be held on a date TBD between November 28 – December 2 2026
2nd Round Auditions: December 3, 2026
3rd Round Auditions: December 4, 2026
All auditions will be held in person in Seoul, Republic of Korea.

SPO Rehearsal Room
Sejong Arts Group Building

Qualifications:
- Applicants must be under 60 years of age
(in accordance with SPO’s current retirement regulations)
Audition Process:
1. Application Review: This includes the application form and resume.
2. The 1st and 2nd rounds will be conducted as blind auditions.
3. In the 2nd round, all candidates will be required to perform with piano accompaniment.
4. At the conclusion of the 1st round, no more than 5 candidates per position may be selected for the 2nd round.
5. At the conclusion of the 2nd round, no more than 3 candidates per position may be selected for the 3rd round.
Employment:
- Successful candidates will be appointed as probationary members for a period of one year.
- At the conclusion of the probationary period, a final evaluation will determine whether the candidate will be offered a permanent position.
- Depending on the evaluation results, the probationary period may be extended for up to one additional year.
Others:
- SPO’s auditions are conducted in accordance with blind audition standards.
- The schedule above is subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances. Any changes will be announced on the SPO website.
- Even selected candidates may have their appointment withdrawn if they are
deemed to be ineligible for any valid reason.
