Goyang Civic Choir
ChoirGoyang City has wonderful choir which was established on Nov 25, 2003. Goyang Civic Choir(GCC) has solidified its position as a cultural icon of the City, holding more than 80 concerts a year, which include subscribed concerts and visiting concerts performed with outstanding technique and brilliant harmony. Moreover, the GCC continues to programme various styles of visiting concerts or new style concerts in order to maximize the happiness and pleasure of citizens as is their priority 'people first'.
The GCC was invitied by Seoul Baroque Chamber Orchestra in 2006 to play Mozart's 'Requiem' conducted by world famous choral conductor Norbert Balach for celebration of Mozart's 250th anniversary. After the concert, it received critics such as 'the best performance of Mozart's 'Requiem' in Korea'. When the GCC was invited to perform its 117th subscribed concert of National Choir in 2007, Robert Richer acclaimed the Choir as 'a powerful and dignified choir'.
In March, 2008, the GCC carried out an outstanding job of playing the core of European choral music world with Prof. Martin Behrmann, and in 2010 it sucessfully played the authentic American choral music with Prof. Bruce Chamberlain of Univ. Arizona.
GCC premiered in 2013 for Ola Gjeilo's 'Dark Night of the Soul' and gave to Korean Chorale world an exceptional sensations. Also GCC leading a modern choral music series with explanations and introducing new choral music composed by Korean composers through the premiere concert.
GCC's choral music has been acclaimed as a profound and authentic work with bright and brilliant choral sound and led to the summit of Korea with great eager for choral music.
