Peruvian conductor Miguel Harth-Bedoya is a master of colour, drawing idiomatic interpretations from a wide range of repertoire, working closely with orchestras around the world. He currently serves as Music Director Laureate of Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, where he was Music Director
for 21 years, and recently completed seven years as Chief Conductor of Norwegian Radio Orchestra.
Having established himself early as Associate Conductor of Los Angeles Philharmonic, with whom he was described as having a ‘special chemistry’ by LA Times, he continues to work at the top level of US orchestras, including Chicago Symphony, Boston Symphony, Atlanta Symphony, Baltimore Symphony, Cleveland, Minnesota, New York Philharmonic and Philadelphia Orchestras.

With his immense personal charisma, Harth-Bedoya has nurtured close relationships with orchestras around the world, such as Helsinki Philharmonic, MDR Sinfonieorchester Leipzig, National Orchestra of Spain, Atlanta Symphony, Indianapolis Symphony, New Zealand Symphony
and Sydney Symphony Orchestras.

Highlights in the 2024–25 season include returns to Helsinki Philharmonic, Taiwan Philharmonic and Melbourne Symphony, and his first visit to Seoul Philharmonic. Last season he worked with orchestras including San Francisco Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra, Helsinki Philharmonic and
Taiwan National Orchestras. Other recent visits include with BBC Scottish Symphony, Munich Philharmonic, Dresden Philharmonic, Orchestre National de Lyon, Sydney Symphony, Danish National Symphony, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic and Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestras.
Seasoned in opera, Harth-Bedoya conducted the world premiere of Jennifer Higdon’s first opera Cold Mountain at Santa Fe Opera, the recording of which was nominated for a Grammy Award, as well as the first production of Jonathan Miller’s La Bohème at English National Opera. He has worked with Canadian Opera Company, Minnesota Opera, Santa Fe Opera, Cincinnati Opera and New Zealand Festival, where he conducted Golijov’s Ainadamar, which he conducts again at Metropolitan Opera this season, in a production directed by Deborah Colker.

Committed to unearthing under-explored South American repertoire, Harth-Bedoya founded and serves as Artistic Director of Caminos Del Inka, a non-profit organisation dedicated to researching, performing and preserving the rich musical legacy of South America. In 2017 he launched an online catalogue www.latinorchestralmusic.com. As an environmental activist, he is committed to a zero waste lifestyle and co-founded a food composting company in his home state of Texas.

Harth-Bedoya has recorded for Harmonia Mundi, Deutsche Gramophone, Decca, FWSO Live and Naxos, and won awards including Editor’s Choice in Gramophone and two Grammy nominations. Recent releases include Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, Prokofiev’s Cinderella, Lutosławski’s Concerto for Orchestra, Brahms’s Piano Quartet, orchestral works by Jimmy Lopez and the complete Prokofiev Piano Concertos.
