Stefan Jackiw
ViolinStefan Jackiw captivates audiences on both sides of the Atlantic with his poetry, purity of sound and
impeccable technique. As a soloist he performs wide-ranging recitals and concertos as well as world
premieres. He also enjoys chamber music, having curated ‘Stefan Jackiw and Friends’ at the 2023
Edinburgh International Festival, and was appointed Artistic Director of Hawaii Chamber Music Festival
in 2024.
Since bursting on to the London stage with the Philharmonia aged 14, Jackiw has won the support of
conductors including Andris Nelsons, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Sir Andrew Davis, and Juraj Valčuha,
among others. A frequent visitor to Europe, he has worked with NDR Elbphilharmonie Hamburg,
Rotterdam Philharmonic, Netherlands Radio Philharmonic, Danish National Symphony, Helsinki
Philharmonic, RTVE Madrid, RAI Turin and Orchestre National de Lyon. Further afield he has toured
with Australian Chamber Orchestra and performed with Tokyo and Singapore Symphony Orchestras,
and he has a large following in Korea.
Highlights of the 2024–25 season include a performance with National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland
and conductor Hans Graf, and his debut with the Suwon Philharmonic, playing Tchaikovsky's Violin
Concerto. Performances in the US include Sibelius’ Violin Concerto with Erie Philharmonic and
Jacksonville Symphony, Mozart with Pasadena Symphony and Korngold with Florida Orchestra.
Jackiw is also a part of The Junction Trio, which made its highly praised debut at Carnegie Hall last
season and returns to 92NY to give a world premiere by John Zorn in 2024–25. As a chamber musician,
he has also collaborated with Yo-Yo Ma, Gil Shaham, Steven Isserlis and Mahan Esfahani and he enjoys
working with pianist Jeremy Denk, with whom he toured and recorded the complete Ives Violin
Sonatas. He has also recorded Beethoven’s Triple Concerto with Inon Barnatan, Alisa Weilerstein, Alan
Gilbert and Academy of St Martin in the Fields.
Passionate about new music, Jackiw gave the premiere of the violin concerto written for him by Conrad
Tao with Atlanta and Baltimore Symphony Orchestras, as well as David Fulmer’s concerto ‘Jauchzende
Bögen’ with Matthias Pintscher and Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen.
He has performed in major festivals and concert halls around the world, including the Aspen Music,
Ravinia, Caramoor Interational Music, New York’s Mostly Mozart Festivals, and at Philharmonie de
Paris, Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw and Carnegie’s Zankel Hall. Recent highlights include a return to
the New York Philharmonic to perform the Barber Concerto with Jaap van Zweden, and performances
with Taiwan Philharmonic and China National Symphony.
