Chamber music can be subtle, and it can be sublime. But sometimes, it’s just about a group of musicians getting together and having fun. Beethoven’s Septet Op. 20 is sunny, songful and packed with melodies—it’s no wonder that it was one of his “greatest hits” in his own lifetime! Schubert, meanwhile, wrote his Trout Quintet while he was on holiday, and it’s a cheerful parade of good tunes, bubbling over with freshness and joy. It might just be the world’s best-loved piece of chamber music, but decide for yourself, because this really is the music of friends. Come and share it today.
